Spirit Valley Days 2020 Cancelled

Spirit Valley Days

Spirit Valley Days 2020 official cancellation notice:

The Spirt Valley Days Coordinating Committee and the West Duluth Business Club Executive Board came to the agreement that the best course of action for 2020 Spirit Valley Days is to cancel our festival.

Our 41st celebration of Spirit Valley Days is officially canceled for 2020.
We look forward to a BIGGER and BETTER events next year on the First Weekend of August 2021.

We were holding out hope that the State of Minnesota, the CDC, and the City of Duluth’s environmental restriction levels would have made it possible for a festival to take place worthy of our coveted Spirit Valley Days. Unfortunately, the current global COVID-19 epidemic threat level is still too
high for them to do so. Although we chose to hold on until the last possible time frame to hold the event, the safety of our community residents, the volunteers, and anyone in person at the event’s health is our number one concern. The steps that would need to be taken and enforced to put forth the festival have proven to be too monumental (social distancing, added regulatory requirements for permits, isolation stations, tracking of individuals that came into possible contact with positively infected individuals, restrooms facilities etc.). In addition, our largest supporters have always been our community’s small businesses and to ask them for support of such a large festival would not be right. Therefore we came to
the conclusion that, with a heavy heart, the Spirit Valley Days festival has too fallen to the ever expanding list of canceled community events and the safety of large crowds.

Valley Youth Center & Our Spirit Valley Days Coordinating Committee, would like to thank the West Duluth Business Club for giving them the opportunity to put together this year’s event despite the COVID crisis. We would also like to thank the different individuals that worked with us thus far from the parade, pageant, car show, and concert events. Last but not least, we want to THANK the many LOCAL businesses that support our events annually.

Looking forward to next year, West Duluth’s largest festival, Spirit Valley Days 2021.
